Giacomelli always took his time to create his haunting photo series. Thus, he visited the seminary in Senigallia over a period of almost three years. The poetic title of the series – "There are no hands to caress my face" in English translation – comes from a poem by Father David Maria Turoldo. The photographs taken in winter are particularly striking and of great intensity. Giacomelli worked with long exposure times and additional flash; as a result, he reduced the details in the image and the priests seem to have been lifted out of time and space.

Giacomelli nahm sich stets Zeit für seine eindringlichen Fotoserien. So besuchte er das Priesterseminar in Senigallia über einen Zeitraum von fast drei Jahren. Der poetische Titel der Serie – "Io non ho mani che mi accarezzino il volto" (auf Deutsch: Es gibt keine Hände, die mein Gesicht streicheln) – stammt aus einem Gedicht von Pater David Maria Turoldo. Die im Winter entstandenen Fotografien sind besonders eindrucksvoll und von großer Intensität. Giacomelli arbeitete mit langen Belichtungszeiten und Blitzlicht; dadurch reduzierte er die Details im Bild, und die Priester scheinen aus Zeit und Raum entrückt zu sein.
