Unique Polaroid PolaColor 20x24 inch on glossy paper 85 x 55.5 cm, in excellent condition. Label with the artist's signature and image number »504.0090« on the reverse.

The world-renowned American painter, sculptor and filmmaker has been taking photographs since 2002 with a Polaroid 20x24 inch camera, creating breath-taking, large-format, object-like unique pictures with it. The man-sized camera was developed as a studio camera, but Schnabel, unimpressed by its unwieldiness, also uses it outdoors. Every shot is an event, or as Schnabel himself puts it: "Every Polaroid breaks the norm". In his studio in Montauk, on the eastern tip of Long Island, he staged this spectacular self-portrait, showing the wide range of intense tonal values and color tones, the large-format Polaroid film allows.
