Mounted in three window-mats 40 x 50 cm; six print with small labels with numbers 122-123 and 125 - 128 in red ballpoint pen in the margin, each with photographer's stamp with address "109 East 19 Street, New York City 10003", with "For Reproductions Only, Duane Michals" stamp and several annotations in pencil on the reverse.

From the mid-1960s onwards, he created his photo sequences in which he depicted events and encounters that revolved around the subjects of sexuality, desire, love, death and violence. With usually two "actors", he stages human actions and interactions that do not follow a stringent narrative and thus allow for a variety of readings. "Man to Man" shows an interplay of submissive behaviour and dominance between two men, which is reflected in the dynamics of the individual scenes as well as in the contrast of nudity and a coat as the main prop. Ab Mitte der 1960er Jahre entstehen seine Foto-Sequenzen, in denen er Ereignisse und Begegnungen darstellt, die thematisch um Sexualität, Begehren, Liebe, Tod und Gewalt kreisen. Mit meist zwei "Akteuren" inszeniert er menschliche Handlungen und Interaktionen, die keiner stringenten Narration folgen und damit vielfältige Lesarten erlauben. "Man to Man" zeigt ein Wechselspiel von devotem Verhalten und Dominanz zwischen zwei Männern, das sich in der Dynamik der einzelnen Szenen sowie im Kontrast von Nacktheit und dem Hauptrequisit eines Mantels wiederspiegelt.
