Signed, dated and titled in pencil on the reverse by the photographer Kagurazaka, ein kleiner Stadtteil Tokios, war einst ein lebendiges Geisha-Viertel. Hier lebte für viele Jahre Yoko Yamamoto und fotografierte das von der traditionellen japanischen Kultur geprägte Leben. Ihre BNachdem ein Großteil ihres Archivs 2012 einem Einbruch zum Opfer fiel, sind Vintageabzüge ihrer eindrucksvollen Arbeiten nur mehr schwer greifbar. Das angebotene Los ist signiert und auf den 18. Februar 1986 datiert ¬–ein Winter, in dem besonders starke Schneefälle in der japanischen Hauptstadt zu verzeichnen waren. Kagurazaka, a small district of Tokyo, was once a lively geisha quarter. Yoko Yamamoto lived here for many years and photographed the daily life shaped by traditional Japanese culture. After a large part of her archive fell victim to a burglary in 2012, vintage prints of her impressive work are now hard to come by. The lot offered is signed and dated 18 February 1986 – a winter that saw particularly heavy snowfall in the Japanese capital.
