For the LIFE magazine cover shoot, Philippe Halsman visited the Los Angeles apartment of 25-year-old emerging actress Marilyn Monroe, creating an intimate portrait that revealed a more personal side of the future Hollywood icon. 2026 marks the centennial of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, celebrated internationally with exhibitions and events.
