Link is known for his photographs of moving railways, which he captured on black-and-white film with his 4×5-inch view camera. He preferred to work at night so that he could control the lighting situation as if he were in a studio. For this he used an elaborate flash technique - for "Hotshot Eastbound" he used a total of 43 lamps that were fired simultaneously. The photograph is one of his best-known motifs and captivates the viewer with the astonishing encounter of railways, aeroplanes and automobiles. The ingenious snapshot captures three paradigmatic historical means of transport, each in different ways of "immobilisation" in the picture.

Link ist für seine Aufnahmen von fahrenden Eisenbahnen bekannt, die er mit seiner 4×5-Inch-Fachkamera auf Schwarz-Weiß-Film bannte. Er arbeitete am liebsten nachts, um die Lichtsituation wie in einem Studio kontrollieren zu können. Dafür setzte er eine aufwändige Blitzlicht-Technik ein – für "Hotshot Eastbound" benutzte er insgesamt 43 Lampen die gleichzeitig gezündet wurden. Die Aufnahme zählt zu seinen bekanntesten Motiven und besticht durch das verblüffende Zusammentreffen von Eisenbahn, Flugzeug und Automobil. Die ausgeklügelte Momentaufnahme erfasst drei paradigmatische historische Verkehrsmittel in jeweils verschiedenen Weisen der "Still-Stellung" im Bild.
