A very special Leica MP camera in black paint finish with matching Summicron 5cm. The top plate is a regular fully original Leica MP version. There have been seen rare cases of conversions from Leica M3 into model MP. Usually, those show a patch which closes the former M1 frame counter window on those cameras. Please compare Nakamura 'Leica Collection' page 42. The fact that here we see a regular Leica MP top plate suggests that Leitz may have prepared this camera as an original MP on special order, after the official Leica MP production run was finished. This camera is published in early Leica books such as Gianni Rogliatti 'Leica, the first 70 years', page 90, with below description: 'A Leica MP believed to have been made to special order, utilizing a serial number allotted to an M2, but complying with the MP specification in all respects'. It comes with the rare black paint Summicron 2/5cm no.1587321 with brass black mount and the black Leicavit MP. The camera is in very fine original and perfect working condition and was authenticated also by Lars Netopil.
