Gelatin silver print, printed in the 1980s on double-weight semi-matte paper 25.3 x 20.3 cm, in excellent condition. Signed and dated "Taken in 1927" by the photographer in green ink and number stamp "112101" on the reverse.

Manhattan-born Victor Keppler was a commercial photographer and author, who worked for weekly magazines or clients such as Camel Cigarettes and the United States government. The photograph of multiple round granny eyeglasses and their delicate shadows was taken in a studio assignment for the American Optical Company and clearly shows his reception of the photographic aesthetics of modernism.

Silbergelatineabzug, geprintet in den 1980ern auf kartonstarkem, halbmattem Papier 25.3 x 20.3 cm, in ausgezeichnetem Zustand. Rückseitig vom Fotografen mit grüner Tinte signiert und beschriftet "Taken in 1927" sowie Nummernstempel "112101".

Der in Manhattan geborene Victor Keppler war ein Werbefotograf und Autor, der für Wochenzeitschriften oder Kunden wie Camel Cigarettes und die Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten arbeitete. Die Aufnahme von runden Metall-Brillen, die mit ihren Schatten ein interessantes grafisches Muster ergeben, entstand im Rahmen eines Studioauftrags für die American Optical Company und zeigt deutlich seine Rezeption der Fotoästhetik der Moderne.
