The surrealist painter Salvador Dali (1904–1989) and the Riga-born photographer Philippe Halsman began a 37-year collaboration in the early 1940s. The portfolio "Halsman - Dalí", edited and produced by New York Neikrug Press in 1981, drew an essence from the most significant images of this fruitful cooperation – and 'Dalí Atomicus' is the most famous motif from this portfolio.
