In 1968, Wolf dPrix (*1942), Helmut Swiczinsky (1944-2025) and Michael Holzer (left in 1971) founded the architectural group Coop Himmelblau in Vienna. Later changing their name to "Coop Himmelb(l)au", the duo became internationally recognised as protagonists of de-constructivist architecture. The beginning of their work was characterised by leitmotifs such as space travel and the idea of a self-sufficient capsule, weightlessness and the changeable lightness of clouds. "Villa Rosa", reproduced here as a design and a model, is a prototype of a pneumatic living unit consisting of three rooms: a pulsating room with a rotating bed, projections, scent streams and sound programmes; eight transformable balloons whose volume can be varied and the mobile room, which can be inflated from a helmet-shaped container into an air-conditioned shell with a bed. The usual homunculi in architectural sketches also appear in the photograph of the model, in the form of three figures in the lower left corner of the picture, the only one without a helmet shows the face of Helmut Swiczinsky.

1968 gründeten Wolf dPrix (*1942), Helmut Swiczinsky (1944–2025) und Michael Holzer (1971 ausgestiegen) in Wien die Architektengruppe Coop Himmelblau. Unter dem später zu "Coop Himmelb(l)au" abgeänderten Namen wurden sie im Duo als Protagonisten de-konstruktivistischer Baukunst international bekannt. Der Beginn ihres Schaffens war von Leitmotiven wie der Raumfahrt bzw. der Idee der autarken Kapsel und der Schwerelosigkeit sowie der veränderlichen Leichtigkeit von Wolken geprägt. Die hier im Entwurf sowie als Modell wiedergegebene "Villa Rosa" ist ein Prototyp einer pneumatischen Wohneinheit aus drei Räumen: ein pulsierender Raum mit dem drehbaren Bett, Projektionen, Duftströmen und Klangprogrammen; acht transformierbare Ballons, deren Raumvolumen variiert werden kann und der mobile Raum, den man aus einem helmförmigen Behälter zur klimatisierten Hülle mit Bett aufblasen kann. Die in architektonischen Skizzen üblichen Homunculi tauchen auch in der Aufnahme des Modells auf, in Form von drei einmontierten Figuren in der linken unteren Bildecke, die einzige ohne Helm zeigt das Antlitz von Helmut Swiczinsky.
