One of the foremost Latin American photographers of the 20th century, Bravo was a master of capturing everyday life in Mexico. His work is based on a combination of straight modernism and surrealist image concepts, which is excellently demonstrated in his famous work "The Threshold". A steep shooting angle makes water on a stone floor look as if it is flowing over the picture surface; a woman's legs mark a doorstep, which also stands as a metaphor for the "outlook" that photography offers to reality. Prints of this image are held by many major museums as MoMA, Centre Pompidou Paris, Tate London, SFMOMA or Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
